Welcome to Visit Taos.org - An Unofficial Visitors Vacation Guide to Taos, New Mexico

The town of Taos is located in north central New Mexico and is at an elevation of more than 6900 feet above sea level. It was established by the Spanish in the 1770's, though they were not the first. It is known that Taos had visitors as far back as 6000 years ago.

While the population is less than 5000 residents, hundreds of thousands visit Taos each year. Many of these residents own and manage the nearly 600 businesses in town. Taos has some of New Mexico's finest spas, hotels, shopping, restaurants, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals, and of course, the best skiing (with over 300 inches per year on average) in the state.

Taos Museums are world-class and include the Harwood Museum, Kit Carson Museum, Millicent Rogers Museum, Martinez Hacienda, and Blumenschein Home.
